In 1987 there became a civil war in the Sudan. The North and the South were fighting. It was ordered that all males should be killed. a group of boys from all over the Sudan fled for their lives to Ethiopia. Ethiopia's government crashed so the boys fled to a refugee camp in Kenya. In the camp the boys get food and other needed supplies. Life is better than it was but it is still a hard life in the camp. When the food rations are low all the "Lost Boys" meet in a place they call the white house. In the whie house the boys sing, tell joke, and have fun until more supplies comes in. The war came to an end in 2005 when the two sides signed a peace agreement
On Friday we watched some of the "Lost Boys" trips to the US. The government paid for the Lost Boys trip to the US, but after three months the boys will have to pay it back. They get jobs at local factories to raise money. Church members and voluntiers help out and give them transportation. After the three months the boys need to do everything on their own. This should help jumpstart their lives as citizens of the US. Even though things are going great, the boys keep think about their brotheren back home in kenya. They continue to think of them and keep them in their prayers.
